Eight Oaks

Care + Outreach

Anyone who wants to help Monthly, and as needed

When someone at Eight Oaks has a baby, a surgery or a death in the family, a meal sign-up goes out and the dinners start the next day. People visit the hospital, give rides to appointments, and help with moves. Most of this is arranged through the small groups.

The scheduled part is outreach. On the second Saturday of each month a group works a 9am to noon shift at the Aurora food pantry, sorting and packing boxes. Twice a year we take on a neighborhood project. Last fall it was painting fences for two neighbors on Halvorsen Street; this spring it is a school backpack drive.

To help, put your name on the sign-up sheet at the welcome table. If you need help, email the office. James and Renee read those messages and keep them private.

Who runs it: Renee Park

Connections director (since 2022)

Renee is usually the first person a visitor meets. She reads every visit form, writes back herself, and is at the front door on Sundays from 9:30 in a green "First Visit" lanyard. She works half-time at Eight Oaks and spends the other half running a small bakery on Broadway, which is why there is usually something good next to the coffee.

The visit form takes a minute. You'll get directions, parking and kids check-in details by email. We read every message and reply within 2 business days.
